On a beautiful summer day in July, Mel’s friends convinced her to head to a party in Sag Harbor. She made the drive from Montauk with a bottle of Whispering Angel in hand, ready for a fun afternoon with the girls.

Not long after arriving, she noticed a tall, handsome guy glancing her way from across the party. Curious to see if he would work up the courage to introduce himself, she carried on enjoying the afternoon. Eventually, Dan made his move.

Between Sammy Adams’ lively set, the crowded party, and their slight height difference, the two only managed a short conversation. Still, they somehow made a lasting impression on each other.

Before the day was over, Dan asked for her number and made sure to snap a selfie so she wouldn’t forget him. The next morning, Mel woke up to a photo of the cute, tan guy from the party on her phone, along with a text asking her out.

She said yes, and the rest is history.
